How to Sew a French Seam

Learn how to sew a French seam.

The first step in learning how to sew a French seam is by placing your fabric pieces’ wrong sides together, aligning the raw edges.

Using a 1/4-inch seam allowance, stitch along the raw edges, securing the fabric layers together.

Trim the seam allowance down to 1/8 inch, carefully removing any excess fabric to reduce bulk.

Iron your seams and turn to the other side.

Now sew your outside edge and finish your French Seam.
