18th and 19th Century Quilt Exhibit

In February 2025, there was an 18th and 19th century quilt exhibit at Texas Tech University Museum. All of the quilts were from Lisa Erlandson’s collection. It’s was an amazing collection. I was able to take photos and videos. I will be adding videos of the collection. You can see all the videos on our YouTube channel.

Here are a few photos from the 18th and 19th century quilt exhibit. You will love these quilts.

Little Women Quilt

This quilt represents the different scenes from Little women. It was created after 1930 and was gifted to Lisa at some point. It certainly brings the book to life with each block. The quilt to the right is a quilt made from Polyester fabric and is super heavy.

The quilt to the left is one of the most complicated quilts to make. Imagine making these 18th and 19th century quilts without our modern rulers, tools and tables.

Quilts from England

These 2 quilts were made in England in the 18th century. One thing I kept noting as I walked through the 18th and 19th century quilt exhibit is how well these quilts had been preserved.

Another thing I noticed in this 18th and 19th century quilt exhibit was that the quilts are much thinner than what we make now. You will also see in the videos how the women came together and each one created a block. They would sign their block. It was so cool to see the name and notes.

18th and 19th Century Quilt Exhibit Videos

I took a ton of videos as I walked through the 18th and 19th century quilt exhibit. I will be adding the videos to the YouTube channel. This is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. There are a total of 6 videos from the exhibit.

There are so many great quilt patterns that you can make, hold on to and one day maybe donate to a museum and see your work on display way after you are dead.
