Scrap Fabric Baby Quilt
This scrap fabric baby quilt pattern is a wonderful project for turning leftover pieces of fabric into a beautiful, handmade quilt. Whether you have a collection of quilting cotton scraps from previous projects or a stash of favorite prints you’ve been saving, this quilt gives those little pieces a new purpose.
The design uses two simple quilt blocks repeated over and over again to create a charming patchwork pattern. Repeating the blocks makes the quilt easier to piece together while allowing the different fabric colors and prints to shine. You can coordinate your scraps for a planned color scheme or mix and match your favorite fabrics for a playful, scrappy look.
This pattern is also a great opportunity to get creative! Choose soft pastels for a sweet baby girl quilt, blues and greens for a baby boy quilt, or a colorful combination that works for any nursery. You can even incorporate leftover fabrics from other handmade projects to create a quilt filled with special memories.
Whether you’re making a baby shower gift, welcoming a new grandchild, or creating a cozy keepsake for your own family, this scrap fabric baby quilt is a practical and meaningful sewing project. Gather your favorite scraps, cut your squares, and let’s get started!

Assemble your Scrap Fabric Baby Quilt

To assemble your scrap fabric baby quilt, simply late out in alternate Quilt Block a and Quilt Block B. You get to decide if you want them alternating on each row or if you want each row to be exactly the same.
In my photo you will see that I have alternated my quilt blocks. The reason being is it helps you not have to keep all of your Fabrics lined up in your scrap fabric baby quilt.
For my baby quilt, I used 6 blocks across and 8 rows down. I have made this in several different sizes.
To finish your quilt you’re going to add your batting and your back and quilt your quilt top as you normally would do. I do have a quilt backing calculator to help you determine how much fabric you need.
Once you have that done you can then add your binding. I also have a quilt binding calculator to help you determine how much fabric that you need. I did use the Navy fabric but you can change that to any color that you want. You could also do that in scrap Fabrics. That would make it a really super cute quilt.
