DIY Fleece Blanket
If you find it hard to cut and tie all the little pieces of a no sew fleece blanket, you can easily grab your favorite fleece fabric, your sewing machine and walking foot and finish a DIY fleece blanket in 30 minutes or less.
It does help to have help if you have someone in the house who can help you hold the fabric.
Materials for DIY Fleece Blanket
- 2 yards of fleece fabric. My niece did 2 of her favorite contrasting colors.
- Walking foot (essential for smooth sewing)
Directions:
This is such an easy DIY fleece blanket pattern. You want to start by evening out your fabric by cutting off any edges that aren’t even.
We then lined up the 2 fabrics side by side and got them as even as possible. We trimmed up any excess if there was any with 1 fabric compared to the other.
With right sides together, you are going to sew down each edge of the fabrics. We did use the pinking shears to cut off the edges after sewing each side.
On one side, you want to leave about a 4-5 inch opening to pull your fabric through after you have sewn it.
We did find that if we rolled the fabric we weren’t sewing towards where we were sewing, it made it easier for the fabric to be sewn.
Once you have all your sides sewn, pull your fabric through your opening so that right sides are showing.
Clip all the way around your edges. Make sure and line up your fabric. We top stitched 1 edge at a time. You will do it on all 4 sides.
Where your blanket is open, you want to fold that over and close it up and make sure it’s closed when you top stitch.
Now your blanket is finished. Enjoy snuggling up and watching a great movie. Also check out our no sew projects for easy projects.
