Directions for Pet Food Mat
Take and cut 2 pieces of your water-resistant fabric and cut 18.5 x 11.5″. You can adjust this measurement depending on the breed of your dog or cat and the size.
You can also lay out your bowls and measure what size you need.
If you change the measurements or create your own measurement, add 1″ to each size for the 1/2″ seam allowance you will be doing.
After you cut your fabric, put the right sides together (pretty sides) and pin your fabric all the way around.
You will sew a 1/2″ seam allowance all the way around but leave a 1″ opening at the top so that you can turn your fabric after sewing.
After sewing, trim all your corners to help with turning and the look but make sure you don’t cut your stitching.
Turn your fabric so that the right sides are seen. Use your bone folder to poke your corner and edges.
Next, you want to top stitch all the way around. Make sure you close your gap and that you catch the folded fabric that is turned inside.
You did it. You made a pet food mat in just a few minutes. Great job.
