Cut your fabric 12×20” using your rotary cutter or scissors. You should have only 1 fabric piece, You can also use a cutting machine like a Cricut if you have one.

After cutting your fabric, you will mark 4” below to fold using your fabric pens, which disappear when heated with your iron. You will also want to take the top edge and fold over 1/4″ seam allowance and iron.

Third, you will pin your ribbon using a sewing pin 9 1/2” from the top of your wine tote bag on one side on a flat surface

Fourth, fold your fabric at the 4” mark, making sure the wrong sides of the fabric are touching each other. Use sewing pins to pin everything in place.

Sew a straight stitch with a seam allowance of ¼ at the top and ⅛ inch at the bottom, where you folded ¼” and ironed.

Once you do those stitches, you will fold your pieces of fabric right sides together, making sure your piece of ribbon is facing inward (you can use a safety pin to hold it in place), and sew down your raw edges in a straight line on your side seam and across the bottom of the bag.

Just a note, You may want to back stitch the ribbon area to secure it in place.

You can top stitch in a contrasting color if you want to add a final touch. This is a fun way to finish off this easy wine gift bag.

Turn your DIY wine bag inside out using a bone folder to poke your corners out creating a crisp edge inside of the bag.
